Requieren que profundicemos en las experiencias de vida, los valores, las frustraciones y las esperanzas de la persona, y que compartamos tambi\u00e9n nuestra propia historia de vida.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es cierto que me preocupaba entablar conversaciones tan vulnerables con personas de nuestras comunidades.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si bien tengo una conexi\u00f3n personal y profunda con el trabajo debido a estas experiencias, pas\u00e9 la mayor parte de mi vida tratando de encarnar el \u201cprofesionalismo\u201d, un ideal que ahora considero basado en gran medida en la supremac\u00eda blanca. Si nunca te has sentado en una reuni\u00f3n llena de nerds de las pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas como yo, te lo contar\u00e9: estos espacios rara vez son tan personales. Al tratar de compartimentar las partes no pulidas de m\u00ed mismo, descubr\u00ed que estaba representando una versi\u00f3n de m\u00ed mismo para la mayor\u00eda de las personas. Las relaciones se basan en la vulnerabilidad y la confianza. Cuando estaba atrapado en el modo performativo, en realidad no pod\u00eda conectarme con la gente porque no permit\u00eda que la gente realmente me viera y me conociera. Regularmente sal\u00eda de las interacciones sociales sinti\u00e9ndome agotado y m\u00e1s solo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mi experiencia vivida<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Hablo regularmente sobre la necesidad de generar poder comunitario para promover el cambio de pol\u00edticas, pero secretamente ten\u00eda miedo de conectarme con la gente. El dolor de ocultar mi verdadero yo me parec\u00eda m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de manejar que la incomodidad desconocida de ser yo mismo y no agradarle a la gente.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante el a\u00f1o pasado, desde que comenzamos a tener conversaciones interpersonales uno a uno con la gente, se me ocurrieron muchas excusas de por qu\u00e9 no ten\u00eda sentido para m\u00ed, como miembro del personal de pol\u00edticas, mantener conversaciones uno a uno. . Cuando trabajas para descubrir el inter\u00e9s propio, uno de los descubrimientos m\u00e1s importantes es comprender lo que pierdes si contin\u00faas permitiendo que los miedos o las creencias interiorizadas te impidan alcanzar tu propio poder.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soy una mujer negra, hija de una madre adolescente soltera. S\u00e9 de primera mano lo que es ser descontado, descartado y marginado. Sin beneficios p\u00fablicos como el programa Head Start, viviendas de la Secci\u00f3n 8 y almuerzos gratuitos o a precio reducido, probablemente no estar\u00eda donde estoy hoy. Crec\u00ed escuchando a mi familia compartir frustraciones sobre estos programas y, a menudo, suger\u00edan formas en que podr\u00edan responder mejor a las necesidades de la comunidad. Estas experiencias no s\u00f3lo dieron forma a mis actividades educativas y profesionales; siguen presion\u00e1ndome para que abogue por un enfoque diferente para el cambio de pol\u00edticas, uno que sea impulsado por aquellos que se ven m\u00e1s afectados por las desigualdades y rinda cuentas ante ellos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Del miedo a la liberaci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Para poder salir de mi propio camino, tuve que aceptar una de las verdades m\u00e1s dif\u00edciles de afrontar. Si realmente queremos hacer realidad el futuro que imagino, en el que el sistema de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica valora a las personas por encima de las ganancias, no puedo hacerlo solo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A medida que los miembros de nuestro equipo me ayudaron a reconocer los miedos que me frenaban, comenc\u00e9 a descubrir las formas en que me beneficiar\u00eda de espacios donde pudiera ser mi yo pleno y aut\u00e9ntico. Lo que comenz\u00f3 como una idea aterradora de repente se volvi\u00f3 bastante liberador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al reunirme con personas de todo el estado, pude reconectarme con mi propia humanidad. He podido compartir partes de m\u00ed y de mi historia que hab\u00eda mantenido ocultas por miedo a no ser vista como lo suficientemente profesional.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estoy eternamente agradecido de trabajar en una organizaci\u00f3n que desaf\u00eda al personal y a los l\u00edderes de base a aprovechar nuestro malestar, asumir riesgos y hablar abiertamente sobre nuestros miedos. No podr\u00eda desarrollar todo mi potencial como l\u00edder sin esforzarme por salir de mi caja profesional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando presiono para que la comunidad participe aut\u00e9nticamente en los esfuerzos pol\u00edticos, regularmente me dicen que es muy dif\u00edcil encontrar gente, que requiere demasiado trabajo y que la gente en realidad no quiere ser parte del proceso.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00daltimamente me he estado preguntando si estas respuestas est\u00e1n impulsadas por miedos... miedo a ceder el poder, miedo a hacer da\u00f1o a personas de distintas razas y clases, miedo a ser vulnerables nosotros mismos.
