Injustamente comenc\u00e9 a culpar a los m\u00e9dicos, enfermeras y dem\u00e1s personal del hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mientras esperamos en urgencias, hay una enfermera que se queda sin almorzar porque est\u00e1 atendiendo sola a seis pacientes en un\u00a0hospital intencionalmente falto de personal<\/a>. Es probable que haya un m\u00e9dico en formaci\u00f3n en su hora n\u00famero 75 de trabajo esa semana, luchando por encontrar un medicamento m\u00e1s asequible para su paciente que las compa\u00f1\u00edas farmac\u00e9uticas excluyen de los programas de asistencia con recetas. Sin embargo, nunca lograremos una visi\u00f3n de salud y bienestar mientras se explote a nuestra fuerza laboral de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica.\u00a0carga que soportan las personas negras y morenas que est\u00e1n hiperexplotadas en estos sistemas<\/a>. Muchos trabajadores de la salud ingresaron a este campo porque se preocupan por las personas y quieren sanar a su comunidad, pero se enfrentan a una dura realidad: el sistema se centra en las ganancias en lugar de en los pacientes y los trabajadores.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las corporaciones de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica utilizan a los trabajadores de manera muy similar a la fuerza de una l\u00ednea de ensamblaje, para tratar a tantos pacientes como sea posible y al mismo tiempo maximizar las ganancias. Esto presenta a los trabajadores un dilema: a menudo tienen que comprometer su bienestar f\u00edsico y emocional para brindar atenci\u00f3n de calidad dentro de un sistema que valora m\u00e1s el dinero que la curaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He visto que la conversaci\u00f3n sobre el agotamiento se centra en una soluci\u00f3n limitada: proporcionar recursos de salud mental para la fuerza laboral. Si bien esto puede ser \u00fatil a nivel individual, nunca interrumpir\u00e1 las decisiones tomadas por los directores ejecutivos que crean\u00a0empeoramiento de la calidad de la atenci\u00f3n para todos nosotros y expectativas poco \u00e9ticas de los trabajadores<\/a>. No necesitamos tiritas. El sistema necesita una reorganizaci\u00f3n. El tipo de movimiento necesario para transformar nuestro sistema de salud corporativo nunca tendr\u00e1 \u00e9xito sin que los trabajadores de la salud aprovechen el poder juntos.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desde que comenc\u00e9 a formar un equipo de trabajadores de la salud organiz\u00e1ndose contra nuestro sistema de salud corporativo, me he dado cuenta de que muchos de ellos est\u00e1n tan hartos como yo. Muchos trabajadores ya no est\u00e1n dispuestos a mantener las expectativas imposibles establecidas por los administradores que no est\u00e1n en la primera l\u00ednea de atenci\u00f3n al paciente. Est\u00e1n desanimados por la forma en que el sistema de salud los arruina y al mismo tiempo afirman que se preocupan por las personas. Y est\u00e1n profundamente frustrados porque sus pacientes no pueden obtener las pruebas o el tratamiento necesarios porque no est\u00e1n cubiertos por el seguro o porque el costo de bolsillo es escandalosamente caro. Esta realidad puede manifestarse como culpa o trauma y es una carga emocional pesada de llevar. Algunos han sentido tanta angustia que ya han tomado la dif\u00edcil decisi\u00f3n de dejar la atenci\u00f3n al paciente, mientras que otros no se quedan atr\u00e1s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los l\u00edderes de nuestro equipo organizador de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a menudo tambi\u00e9n hablan de las formas en que sufren como pacientes.
