Health & Research Associate
Marcos Contreras is passionate about creating equity, both within the health sector and across other institutions. Having been raised in a family of first generation immigrants, he understands firsthand the positive effects of lifting up the voices of those who have been pushed to the margins of society. As a Health and Research Associate, Marcos is a part of the efforts to empower individuals and communities to be more engaged and connected with the political process at the state and local level. He works to analyze and study relevant regulatory and research issues, as well as policies from other states, to inform our advocacy work. A recent graduate of James Madison University, he earned a B.S. in Psychology. While in college, Marcos was a Diversity Educator, Service Trip Leader, Holistic Health intern, and Camp Counselor. An avid joiner of clubs, he participated in everything from Swing Dance Club, to Caving Club, to Longboarding Club, with many clubs in between. Marcos joins Center for Health Progress as an Americorps VISTA, a national service program designed to alleviate poverty.
