Margaret comes to Center for Health Progress with 34 years of experience in the health and medical field, including nine years working in public health. During that time, she observed the experiences and struggles of historically oppressed groups and unhoused people, and the ways that the health care system worsened inequities. Margaret joined Center for Health Progress as a member in 2020, working alongside members of Pueblo’s immigrant community to organize vaccine equity clinics. She realized the next phase in her path to power must be centered around community driven work, rather than direct service work that doesn’t address root causes. This experience reinforced her commitment to fight for health equity in Pueblo. Her many years in health care–including direct patient care and work with local, state, and regional partners–has shaped her understanding of systemic inequities and ignited her commitment to build power for health equity.

Margaret was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, and has three grown children and three grandchildren.  Her passions include photography, scrapbooking, reading, and camping.
