Self proclaimed actress, comedian, Chingona mom, and community organizer, Perla Rodriguez started organizing for change in her community in 2008 without even knowing it. Forced by her mom to participate in local canvassing for a presidential campaign, Perla realized her passion for change and the power in the people!

She was born in Greeley, Colorado but raised in the rural community of Fort Morgan. Growing up, she saw that despite immigrants and Latine people being the driving force of her community, people in power diminished their contributions and treated them as outsiders. Perla is driven to make her community into one where Latine people see that they are valuable and influential leaders. She is determined to build a community where nobody feels that they have to be an altered version of themselves to belong. As a new parent, Perla feels the urgent call to build community power in Fort Morgan even more, so that her son can live in a community where everyone is seen as worthy of care. When she’s not in community building power, Perla enjoys spending time with her infant son and partner, going on walks with her dog Phoenix, and soaking in friends and family time!
