Leading Change for a Healthier Colorado
Our profit-driven health care system dehumanizes people and produces some of the worst health inequities. Immigrant communities, already impacted by unjust systems and policies, have largely been excluded from recent expansions in health care coverage. Even as health care entities begin to dabble in upstream interventions, efforts have lacked community accountability, ownership, and control. This powerful system will only be transformed if called to account publicly by a powerful base of organized people and money with clear demands.
Our Mission
We build power to win recognition, rights, and resources for our communities in our ongoing fight for health equity.
Our Vision
We envision health care systems that value humanity and wellness over profit and center the power of historically and systematically oppressed communities.
Our Priorities
We focus our leadership and resources on three key change efforts that we believe have the greatest ability to transform the health care system to value humanity and wellness over profit. Building on a foundation of two+ decades of transformation work, we’re focusing energy and resources toward building power in Pueblo, Fort Morgan, and with health care workers across the state, to identify the key changes that need to happen in Colorado.
- Power Building: Grow a powerful base and invest in the leadership development of core leaders to set, win, and govern an agenda
- Health Care System Redesign: Effect policy in ways that build community power so that we change the design of health care systems and structures
- Narrative Building: Create new public narratives about health and health care that transform what we collectively see as real and possible
Our Structures
Supporting all of this work is an ongoing commitment to live our values as an inclusive, diverse, anti-racist organization. This includes launching new internal structures that promote transparency and power sharing.
