A health care system that values humanity and wellness over profit
We bring together immigrant rights, health advocacy, and direct service organizations around a long-term vision of a health care system that works for all immigrants, regardless of documentation status. We’re advancing policies designed to create affordable, quality, universal government run and funded health coverage options accessible to all immigrants in Colorado. We currently have three core programs aimed at health care system redesign:
Coalition for Immigrant Health
The Coalition is explicitly focused on passing policy to expand insurance coverage for immigrants and is centering the leadership and decision making of leaders who are directly impacted by racist health inequities. The Coalition has a steering committee that makes all of the major decisions for our coverage campaign and is made up of core leaders from our three constituencies.
Launch and win local and statewide campaigns
All of our work is in service to launching and winning local and statewide campaigns that reduce the structural barriers that contribute to unjust health outcomes. We’re actively lobbying legislators, securing and supporting testimony of our grassroots and health care base, and driving communication strategy and policy research.
Build political will around health equity
Our innovative programs and communications materials aim to build the public and political will necessary to achieve health equity. This requires reframing issues, bridging gaps between issue areas, catalyzing conversations about racism and systemic oppression, and connecting policymakers to their self-interest in health equity work.
