My best friend’s daughter just turned two, and her vocabulary increases substantially every day. I’m fortunate enough to get to see little Sylvia all the time, and her answers to my questions continue to get lengthier and more impressive.

Helping Tell Colorado’s Health Story
Although storytelling is one of the oldest forms of communication we have, recently, it has had a sort of revival. Storytelling is one of the most universal ways we communicate as humans—in nearly every culture and language around the globe.
The Colorado HealthStory Experience
Colorado HealthStory launched in early 2011 collecting stories from Coloradans about their experiences with health. It is the project that drew me to the Coalition for the Medically Underserved, as I believed in its mission and was already a StoryCorps fan.
Health is Local
The impact of Majora Carter’s work and words on my approach toward community work has been considerable. When CCMU set the focus of our 2013 luncheon, entitled “Health is Local,” I eagerly advocated for inviting her to keynote the event.
Inspiring a Shared Vision
Inspiring a Shared Vision is one of the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership, and I believe it the hardest of the five. The others, Modeling the Way, Challenging the Process, Enabling Others to Act, and Encouraging the Heart are by no means easy.
